Nobel had the honor of refueling a truly exceptional vessel: the Pioneering Spirit from offshore company Allseas. This impressive ship is rightfully considered an icon in the maritime world.

With its remarkable dimensions — 382 meters long and 124 meters wide — the Pioneering Spirit is the largest offshore vessel in the world. It was specially designed for the installation and removal of offshore platforms and also plays a major role in laying pipelines and cables at sea. Thanks to its unique design, this giant of the oceans can carry out operations that were once impossible or extremely complex.

The bunkering was not only a technical feat but also a remarkable sight. The enormous Pioneering Spirit, alongside the familiar Aart Sr., created a stunning scene. The contrast between this giant of the sea and the bunkering vessel made the moment truly special.

How the bunkering took place

Refueling a vessel of this size requires careful preparation. The Aart Sr. was positioned alongside the Pioneering Spirit, after which the fuel hoses were safely connected. Due to the ship's immense scale, the operation took considerably longer than with regular vessels, but thanks to our team's experience, everything went smoothly and according to plan.

Safety was, of course, the top priority throughout the operation. Constant communication was maintained between the crews of both vessels to ensure that the fuel transfer proceeded in a controlled manner and without interruption. For our colleagues, it was an impressive sight to see the Aart Sr. working so close to this colossal offshore vessel.
